Traditionally, an “Odeum” was a Roman and Greek meeting place for the arts. At Odeum, you will also experience the arts, as the restaurant offers a rotating art exhibit of local artists, as well as live entertainment, and the Chef’s culinary masterpieces.

At Odeum Restaurant, Chef Salvatore Calisi combines Roman and Greek cuisine with Spanish and other Mediterranean influences, while including his creative and fun flair to traditional dishes. The Chef spares no expense with the best octopus imported from Spain and the salmon imported from Scotland, fresh local organic vegetables, and grass-fed beef from Australia and the Midwest.

Chef Calisi has not only trained with the very best in his field at the finest restaurants in New York and Italy, but also has a Michelin star to tuck in his toque, which he received during his tenure as Executive Chef and Partner at Dio Deka in Los Gatos.

At Odeum, Chef Calisi gives each customer a Michelin Star experience, from his personal welcoming at the door, to his phenomenal culinary masterpieces, and exquisite plating and presentation.

Green Business

Since opening in June 2011, Odeum has found itself on the forefront of Green restaurants, but not without lack of care paid to small changes, which they hope will make a larger impact on not only the environment, but the way people do business.

Situated in the charming community of Morgan Hill, Odeum is located in The Granary, a certified Gold LEED building, which was used by farmers in agri-business in years past. It sets itself apart from other restaurants, and even other green businesses in that Odeum runs a farm-to-table operation that focuses on organic and sustainable farming, and sources much of their meat, fish and produce from local farmers. In addition, Odeum maintains several ethical and environmental standards to which they hold themselves and their staff.

Local Wines from Santa Clara Valley Morgan Hill & Gilroy

The Santa Clara Valley was California’s first premium wine production region. Native Americans named it “the Valley of the Heart’s Delight.” French and Italian immigrants who settled here during the Gold Rush era recognized the rich soils and Mediterranean climate as the perfect “New World” home for their European grape varietals.

The history of winemaking and viticulture in the Santa Clara Valley goes back to the 18th Century. From the discovery of native “Vitis Californica” grapes growing wild and the first plantings of Mission grapes at the Santa Clara Mission in 1798, through boom years and depression, phylloxera and prohibition, the region has some of the richest tradition of anywhere in the country.

Today, the Santa Clara Valley is home to many premier wineries. We hope you enjoy some of our favorites.
